Seriously....kiddo?

We had carpet installed the other day in Emi's new bedroom. I got talking with the installer who was probably in his forties. After a fairly lengthy discussion about the different contractors we used for our basement, he said, "alright, kiddo....we're out of here". Kiddo? Not that I especially love when I am called "ma'am", but have I not graduated from "kiddo"? Honestly.....it bugged a bit. Would any of you be bugged by "kiddo"?

no title...just randomness

1- Ironic.....Parker, Emi, and I were driving back from a great day of sledding and we had some dance music on in the car. They were bouncing around to the music, so I decided to join in. Soon Parker stopped and said, " Mom! Someone might see you!". My parents would say that this served me right, but I must say I am an above average dancer. Come on! Especially since Parker has been the culprit in some very embarrassing incidents!

2- It is 3:00...Emi has been home from pre-school since 11:30.....she is still talking about every detail of the day. Who was there, who said what to who, who did what in the bathroom, who was wearing what. It's non-stop! Parker usually gives me a one word answer, "Good". Girls and Boys.

3-Parker brought home a big book about Paris, his recent city that he is obsessed about. It's a tad mature....I can't believe he got it at his school library. So we are looking through it and we saw some scantily clad showgirls from the Moulin Rouge. He asked who they were. I said they were some dancer in some interesting costumes. Parker said, "VERY interesting!".

4- Quinn will only sleep when "Mr. Li-Li" the lion is around. It's really cute. The lion is bigger than he is.

Cat surgery

Well, after 8 1/2 years of owning our low-maintenance cat, we finally had to spend some real money on him. Fosse was born with bad teeth (perhaps he was from England). I guess we could have been brushing these teeth all these years, but let's face it.....that was never going to happen. So the poor thing had rotting teeth.....so sad and gross and probably painful.
On Wednesday, he had tooth extraction surgery. He now has only one big tooth left. How sad is that! You should have seen him when he still was doped up. His back legs wouldn't work and he looked drunk. We now just have to shoot him up with pain meds (that's fun) and give him the yucky soft food. Poor thing, but I guess he's been a great (yet slightly psycho) pet, so what's a measly $350?

I'm just a LOVE MACHINE.....

Here is Parker's steamroller Valentine's Box. It was going to be a truck, but the wheels were so big. Daddy renewed his title as "Super-dad" by helping with this. Super creative, boys!

Calling all Stover girls.....

Dear Stover Hall girls of 92-93,

OK....it's been way to long! We are in definite need of a reunion/trip. What do you say? I see and hear from some of you, but we need to be more than the yearly Christmas cards. Our last attempt at this was FIVE WHOLE YEARS ago, and it ended up being me, Becky, and Stacey at the beach house. All very fun, but we missed the rest of you.

I know, I know. Babies, nursing, kids, money, etc......that's why we need to plan far in advance, like a year. We could do something noble like women's conference at BYU or we could throw caution to the wind and go tropical.

So.....Becky, Amy, Lindsay, Kjirsten, Stacey, Kari, and Kelly: start saving $/sky miles, reserve your hubbies or parents for babysitting, and let's do it. It's been way too long. Who's for it?

-Liz

My luck is changing......

I never win.....seriously. When it comes to drawings or lotteries, I have NEVER won a thing. Ooo, I take that back. I won an Intel mug at Chad's (old, OLD boyfriend) work party. This was 12-13 years ago... this should prove my point. I remember the mug because it was the only thing I've won. It was probably the only good thing out of that relationship.....but let's not go there. Bill and I came in 2nd place at his work's casino night, but we had to work for that telescope. I plopped my 8 month pregnant body down at Bingo and won 6 out of 7 rounds, while Bill astounded me with his unknown ability at Craps. We can win games (hey Mark and Kathryn....remember 80's night in Coronado? J/K). But anything that is "luck of the draw", we will come up short.
So imagine my surprise! I was running through Harmons for a few quick items when the PA system announced that it was PTA day. Whoever was standing on the snowman with #4 on it would receive a free gift. "Whatever" I thought, and then I looked down and saw the #4 snowman below my feet. I looked up, and 2 women (funny...I teach both their daughters) came running up to me with a dozen white roses. Awesome! I won something just for doing a boring housewive chore. What do I get for doing laundry?
Anyways.....no one tell Bill they were from the PTA. Maybe he'll think he has competition! Chad?

S"no"w more....

I'm officially tired of snow. I'm generally a fan of winter....but enough is enough. I'm so tired of tromping out in blizzard after blizzard to do carpool, get groceries, etc. We have the world's biggest driveway, so snow removal has consumed our week. 6 new inches this morning. To top it off, I've got jury duty this week, so I will have to venture downtown in the snow this week. ARGGGGHHH....I have a bad attitude today. Very un-Hinckley of me.
One little consulation.....they cancelled church. I wish we would've known before I dressed the kids, packed the diaper bag, and did all my primary stuff. Between going downtown to Pres. Hinckley's viewing, watching the funeral, and attending the twin's baptism, I feel like we have had a weekend of spiritualness, so missing church is no big deal.

The doorbell just rang....the sweet Bradshaw boys just came over on their snowmobile and snowblowed our driveway. LOVE THEM!!! I showed my affection by giving them stale Valentine cookies (it's all we had left!). I feel so much better.

Happy Shoveling!
